Halloween practice

Ryder found a very cute dalmatian costume at Target and decided that he was going to be a dog for Halloween. (Luckily, it was cheaper than any other costumes I had seen and the one he wanted, so it was perfect!) I told him that if he wanted to be a dog for Halloween, he was going to have to practice. So he has been telling everyone that he's going to be a doggie and say "Woof, woof." Since we're in a Halloween mode, I figured we could also practice saying "Trick or Treat." So we went over how you ring the doorbell, then say trick or treat, then they put the candy in your basket, then you say thank you. And for the first few days he repeated that sequence when asked about going trick or treating. Then, the other day he switched to saying "You ring the doorbell, then say 'May I please have some candy in my basket?' Then they put the candy in and you say 'Thank you!' " I guess he gets the idea and it's even more polite than the traditional trick or treat really, but not standard protocol... I just love the stuff he comes up with!
