Smarter than I realize
I know Ryder's a pretty bright kid, but I think sometimes I underestimate his ability to reason. This morning when I was getting him out of bed, I said, "We need to go eat our oatmeal so that we can go to art class. How are you going to go downstairs and eat if you're still in bed?" He immediately answered, "We could take the bed downstairs." That certainly would solve the problem of staying in bed and getting downstairs at the same time! Later, when we were at the store, Ryder said that he wanted to buy the things, meaning that he wanted to put them on the conveyor belt when we checked out. So I told him that I would have to buy the plastic boxes that we were getting since they were too heavy, but that he could buy the other stuff. So he replied, "Well, Ryder could buy the lids to the boxes since they aren't heavy. And just Mommy could buy the boxes since they are too heavy for Ryder. And Ryder could buy the lids and the other stuff." Honestly, I hadn't thought of that solution. Good plan, little man! And keep showing us that wonderful logic and reasoning you have floating around in your head!
