Observation of the day

I am MUCH more often in a McDonald's in some other country than in this country.

Not that I go to McDonald's much in other countries--I'm all about soaking up local flavor and avoiding ANYTHING American, McDonald's being a big one. However, I NEVER go to McDonald's in the US. I know that, since I have been to a McDonald's in the US, I have been to McDonald's in multiple other countries. You might ask how this happens when I claim to avoid all things Americana while abroad. Here's the deal:
--Sometimes it is the ONLY thing open. As Drew and I found out one Sunday evening in Italy after walking around for 2 hrs looking for something else. We really tried.
--McDonald's a very reliable source for a nice, clean, FREE bathroom, especially in places where they charge for such things. So sometimes we're just there for the bathroom, but that does mean that I'm there technically.
--Sometimes you just want some ice cream and McDonald's McFlurries are all you can find sometimes in other countries where ice cream isn't as popular as it is here.

So there it is, for what it's worth.
