365 - March 3

We've been spending a lot of time hunting for Easter eggs around the house lately. Ryder has been pretending to be the Easter Bunny and hiding eggs for everyone. The first time Ryder played "egg hunt" a few weeks ago, he hid toys that he pretended were eggs. Yah, that's tough. First of all, it involves spreading a whole bunch of toys all over the house. I'm not mess adverse, but hiding a bunch of toys all over the house is a bit of trouble. Second, it's really hard to distinguish the toy "eggs" from all the other toys all over the floor. That does make hunting for them really tough. Ryder kept telling me, "No, Mommy. Lofty's not an egg. Look for the real eggs." But the real eggs were just toys too! That's when I offered him some plastic eggs to play with. We still have to hunt for eggs, but it was a serious step in the right direction. Now he's expanded to hiding eggs, Peeps (anything shaped like a chick) and "chocolate treats" (stuffed bunnies). Everyone is required to find one egg, one Peep and one chocolate treat. The only tough part is there are very few Peeps, so you'd better hope you find one of those early!
