Logical Reasoning
Ryder has been saying lots of "grown-up" things lately that have me cracking up. Tues we were at Costco and I was explaining to Ryder that we had to buy more hummus when he looks over at me, deadly serious, and said, "You know, Dad really likes hummus." Yes, I did know, but thanks for the heads up. Yesterday, during dinner Drew and I were talking about which comic on Last Comic Standing we liked best. Drew finally said that he thought he liked Ty better, to which Ryder looked at him and said, "I don't think so!" What a riot! Well, this afternoon I got a peek into the logic behind that adult talk. I was reading Ryder books before his nap and, after reading the agreed upon two, he asked for one more book. Since we weren't in any hurry, I said fine. I didn't mind reading more, but when Ryder asked me to pick the book, I of course selected a nice SHORT one about a snail. When I pulled the book out, Ryder said that he wanted to read Elmo. After he tried to bargain for BOTH books, I explained that we could only read one more book, so he had to choose Elmo or snail. He thought for a moment and finally said, "Let's read Elmo. It's got lots more pages!" Hmmm, I'm not sure I'm ready for him to be that logical or perceptive yet!
