Cookie Decorating Fun

Cut-out cookies are a big love around our house and we only make them a couple times a year. Granted, it's partly because of the stupendous recipe that we use that I don't make them very often because it's like a 3 day long affair to get them finished. This is because the dough has to be made and then refridgerated over night before you can make the cookies. Then the dough makes a bunch of cookies so by the time I finish rolling, cutting and baking all the cookies, I'm usually done with cookies for the day. That leaves decorating for another day. But it's definitely worth it all the effort! The cookies have cream cheese in the dough and taste soooo good. They are definitely Ryder's favorite. Since we hadn't done them in a while and Ryder had so much fun last time we decorated them, plus we needed cookies to take to a Halloween party and some to have the kids decorate when they come for playgroup on Monday, I spent the last few days making cookies so that Ryder and I could decorate them this morning. And we certainly had fun decorating them. Ryder mainly wants me to spread the frosting on, mostly because he can't get it as even and smooth as he wants. He's pretty much just interested in sprinkling the cookies, which he finds to be all-consuming enough. We have a nice system--I frost each one, them pass it to him to put the sprinkles on. It worked well except when he wanted to eat more than the appointed one cookie that I told him he could eat while we were decorating. Guess that just comes with being 2 and loving these yummy cookies! Because when he tasted his cookie, Ryder said, "Mmmm, those are some good cookies!"
