Shopping buddy
Ryder is all into helping me shop lately. (Well, for limited amounts of time anyway--he is two after all.) When we go look for clothes, he loves to pick things out now. He'll walk around the rack and take things off, saying, "Oh, this is cute. How adorable! This skirt would be adorable for Carter! All of these skirts are adorable. These are a good size for me. Carter can wear these when she gets bigger. Carter will really like this one. I want to take these cute pants home to wear when I get bigger. These all are just adorable!" and other such comments. He's not too discriminating, unfortunately. And he has strange criteria, like things that are on yellow hangers are cool since he loves yellow or that a stack of five of the same pants in the same size are all needed. And I think he's a little too liberal with the use of the word adorable, like when it refers to boy's navy corduroy pants. We end up with a ton of things in the cart for me to sort through, but I like that he's involved and it keeps him busy. Plus, we've been shopping clearance racks, so it's pretty easy for me to put all the stuff back since they're not each in a specific spot. And sometimes he does actually pick out some cute things that we end up getting. Not often, but then again, that's not really the point. The point is that he's happy and engaged and I get a little time to shop!
