Funny comments

Here's some funny comments from the kids over the last few weeks:

--The kids were sitting at the breakfast table and Ryder pretended to shoot at Carter. Carter told Ryder, "I don't like that, Ryder Scott!" to which Ryder replied, "OK, OK, you don't have to say Scott."

--Carter was wrapped in a green towel and told me, "People think I look like a pine cone, but I'm really a frog!" Why in the world would anyone think she looked like a pine cone??

--Carter was singing on a song on her microphone, when she announced, "Oh, I forgot to turn my microphone on! First I have to turn my microphone on. Then I turn on the menu. Then I put in some Grandma power and shake it up!" Not sure what Grandma power is, but it sounds cool.

--We call my parents house the brown house, so Carter asked me if our house had a name. Carter: "What is our house called?" Me: "Our house doesn't have a name." Ryder: "Well, our house is a ship, so it should have a good ship name. We'll call it 'Destroyer Ship!' " Carter: "That's a great name!" So now we have the Brown House and the Destroyer Ship.

--An adult asked Ryder if he had a job now that he turned 5 and he replied, "Nope, just playing is my job!"

--Ryder and Carter have both been announcing that they are each other's best friends lately. Last night Ryder told Carter, "It's me--your best friend!" And today Carter told me, "Ryder is my best friend!"

--Carter was busy sitting eating a cupcake as her birthday party was winding down. I thought she was paying attention as the last few people were leaving, but all of a sudden she looked up and yelled, "Hey! Where did my friends go?"

--When my parents were leaving the other night, Carter asked, "Is Grandma going home?" When I told her yes, she replied, "But I will miss her!"

--Out of the blue, Carter told Grandma, "I belong to my mommy."

--When we were hanging out with friends the other day, Carter asked their 5 year old daughter, "Do you love your mommy? Do you love her?" in that voice that you talk to a baby in. I guess that counts as a good conversation table when you're a preschooler.

--Ryder had a splinter in his foot that I was trying to get out. Apparently Carter's splinter made quite an impression on her because she kept telling me, "Don't hurt my brother! I don't want you to poke him!"
